Sagora’s 2014 Holiday Wish Winners

Sagora Senior Living decided to put on a figurative Santa suit and pass out “gifts” to a few good boys and girls by granting holiday “wishes” to a few lucky residents at three different communities.

Applying the old adage that giving is better than receiving, Sagora Senior Living held a holiday wish contest during the month of December across all of their communities with the three winners coming from Abilene, TX, New Braunfels, TX and Daphne, AL.

Angelea Carey from University Place in Abilene, TX wished to receive more fabric so that she can continue making dresses for little girls in Zambia. In 2014 alone, Angelea has made over 260 dresses! Her son attends a church that helps with medical missions and the dresses are used to pack the medical supplies and given to the girls upon arrival. What a great wish and a way to help others!

Fern Wendt from the New Braunfels community Rio Terra asked for a special makeover and limo ride. After having the same hair style for over 60 years, Fern thought it was time for a change! New Braunfels based Moxie Magazine has decided to team up with Sagora and Rio Terra and combined, they are going to provide her special skin treatments, hair appointments, make-up appointments, a photo-shoot and even a story in Moxie Magazine! Fern will be on her way to fabulous in no time.

The Brennity at Daphne in Daphne, AL had resident Sylvia Powers in need of some dentures. Boasting a brilliant smile years ago, it has been stolen away due to chronic medical conditions and a myriad of prescriptions meant to treat those conditions. Sagora is happy to help Sylvia out by providing a new pair of dentures so that her brilliant smile can be back in action.

Christmas was once summed up perfectly by Ruth Stapleton saying, “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it the most”. In a season where it can be easy to be self and bottom-line focused, Sagora opted to spread Christmas cheer. There’s no doubt Santa Claus is coming to town, and this year, he has a friend in Sagora coming with him.
