Meet Our Residents

Meet some of the seniors who are proud to call Aberdeen Heights “home.” Keep reading to see what they say about living here, and become more familiar with the residents we serve.

Meet Carole

Carole moved into Aberdeen in 2010 after visiting several other assisted living communities in the Tulsa area. Once she walked in our front doors, she knew immediately Aberdeen would be her new home and that was all it took.

Carole’s current passions are scrapbooking, local car trips and shopping. She has donated several scrapbooking supplies to our community club and has encouraged many other residents to participate in the activity.

Living at Aberdeen has given Carole a great peace of mind. She’s no longer worried day to day about being alone and who would take care of her when she doesn’t feel well. Here at Aberdeen, Carole is surrounded by good friends and associates who take care of her.

When asked what piece of advice Carole would give to the next generation, she exclaimed, “Enjoy the little things in life! One day you will look back and realize all the little things were, in fact, big things!” And most importantly, “the best things in life are not things.” Learning to appreciate every little detail as well as valuing relationships is what has gotten Carole where she is today and is without a doubt incredible words for the next generation to live by!

“I love the size of our apartments and how the associates here hold every resident as their first priority. It is evident they are genuine in their attention toward the residents.”
– Carole, Resident at Aberdeen Heights since 2010

Meet Jane

Knowing that she needed assistance, Aberdeen Heights resident Jance C. decided it was time to get serious about finding a place that could help her. After visiting multiple communities, Jane stepped inside Aberdeen Heights’s doors and knew she was home.

Hearing that a resident has found friendships and cultivated a passion for a new hobby are great to hear, but Jane went further by seeing improved health since becoming a resident at Aberdeen. Jane states, “The improvement in my health since moving to Aberdeen is a big accomplishment for me.” A kind and generous spirit, Jane is always willing to help another resident or just spend time with them if they need a little company. Jane took part in the resident art show and enjoys knitting, crocheting and piecing together big puzzles. Jane says, “I love all of the entertainers, activities, and crafts here at Aberdeen. I have met so many nice people to share my day with and all of the staff are the most wonderful people.” Jane is also a big believer in finding ways to be happy as well as having a strong faith, and believes that life is more enjoyable when you have something to look forward to!

When asked if she had one piece of advice she would like to pass on to the next generation, Jane says, “Be cautious and buy Long Term Care Insurance so that you will be able to live at a nice place like Aberdeen when you are old!” Hard to pass on such sage advice! We love having Jane shine her light on our community!

“Jane has been an absolute asset to our community. She is always willing to help others.”
– Robin B. (sales associate)

Meet Audrey

Audrey has been a resident at Aberdeen Heights since 2011. She has a huge passion for the arts and loves painting and ceramics. Audrey has helped encourage other residents who are not as crafty in getting them excited about trying painting, drawing, ceramics, and other craft projects. She also enjoys spending her time reading and putting puzzles together.

When Audrey and her husband moved into our community, she had been his caregiver for quite some time. Her move to Aberdeen Heights was because her husband’s care needed was more than she was able to provide. Audrey said that the Aberdeen Heights associates became an extended family to her and showed compassion and friendship beyond her expectations. This allowed Audrey to be more active and gave her comfort in knowing that her husband was well cared for. She loves that Aberdeen Heights offers so many activities and ways to be involved in the community. After her husband passed away in 2014, the Aberdeen associates and residents have helped her to cope, begin to move on, and enjoy life.

Audrey is a great example of why we at Aberdeen love what we do. We get to meet incredible people and be a part of their journey no matter how difficult. Thanks for letting us be a part of your life, Audrey, and we can’t wait to see what great times are ahead!

“I watched my mother become physically stronger and become a very important part of this community. I can’t express in words how loving and devoted the Aberdeen Heights associates are.”
– Brenda, daughter of Audrey, an Aberdeen Heights resident since 2011.
