Sagora Senior Living: COVID-19 Update – June 24, 2020

In light of new state mandates in Texas regarding COVID-19, we’d like to make you aware of our new protocols moving forward.

  • All Assisted Living residents are required to wear face coverings when leaving their apartment unless they have a diagnosis that will impede their ability to breathe while wearing the face covering. We will not force any of our Memory Care residents to wear a face covering that do not understand or would become agitated, frustrated, scared or unable to remove the covering. Our residents’ dignity and well-being remain a top priority.
  • We will continue to do everything we can to mitigate any potential spread of COVID-19 with practices including:
    • Frequent hand washing with soap and water for 20 seconds
    • Social distancing
    • Minimizing need for residents to touch their face
  • For residents who leave the community for essential visits only:
      • Resident is required to go through our full screening process including filling out our Risk Assessment form, temperature check and hand washing.
      • Their face covering and clothes will be changed and laundered.
      • Any surfaces that the resident came in contact with will be sanitized.
      • For the following 14 days after an outing:
        • Resident will be monitored for any symptoms.
        • Resident will be required to stay in their apartment for care, service and meals unless community associates are able to coordinate a time where the resident can leave their apartment and be escorted to a common area where no other residents are present.
        • The resident’s movement within the community is limited to areas separate from those occupied by residents who have not left community grounds.
  • Beauty Salons will not be opening in our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities at this time.
    • State mandate specifically identifies volunteers, barbers and delivery personnel as non-essential, therefore prohibiting them from entering the community. Due to this, our beauty operators are not able to contract out their services for our residents at this time.
    • We have identified and shared best practices for our communities such as, identifying our associates who can wash, dry and style hair, given video tutorials and education to our teams.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact us at the community. We so appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our residents and family members as new and more defined mandates come through Texas. We will continue to communicate with our residents and their responsible parties through multiple avenues to ensure that they are receiving consistent, up-to-date information from us.
