<\/h2>\n<\/h2>\nIf you ask Susan Johnson to describe her position at The Westmore, she’ll tell you it’s all about the residents. Getting to know the residents and hearing their life stories is the highlight of her day. Susan was apprehensive that being Resident Services Director would take her away from the one-on-one approach she desires to practice with her residents, however, Susan is glad that this position allows her to keep that individual approach while providing the best care imaginable for residents. After working in skilled nursing her entire career, Susan is excited to be working at a senior living community. She enjoys the teamwork that makes The Westmore a unique place to work, especially since the sole focus is on the resident’s needs.<\/p>\n
Susan is working to ensure that listening to residents is the top priority for all nursing staff. \u201cYou need to be an active listener. You need to echo back what the resident is telling you, so they understand that you are truly listening to them and understanding what their needs are,\u201d Susan said. She jokes that during the day she can be slow to get work done because so many residents stop by her office to chat. While walking through The Westmore halls, you can see how both residents and associates welcome Susan’s positive energy. She stops to talk to everyone she sees while ensuring that everyone is receiving the best care available.<\/p>\n
Susan Johnson was born and raised in Arlington, TX. She attended Concorde Career College in Dallas after high school where she received her associate’s degree in nursing. After graduating, Susan moved to California where started her career as an LVN. While working full time as an LVN, Susan went back to school to complete her RN training. Upon returning to Texas, Susan used to work for skilled nursing and rehabilitation corporation. Susan lives in Arlington, TX.
