As the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo are just a few weeks away, we were inspired to shine a light on our resident athletes within Sagora Senior Living. We have residents who are retired coaches, have had expansive sports accomplishments and residents who have found their passion for athleticism within our communities. These residents aren’t afraid to break boundaries and they know that there is no age limit on personal development. We’re so excited to share their stories with you and hope that you find inspiration and encouragement from them!
This week, we have a very special resident to introduce you to from Ansel Park Senior Living in Rocklin, California. Meet Arlene. She’s a shining star athlete who has shared her expertise with countless others as a physical education teacher. Arlene taught various activity courses including archery, fencing, tennis, ping pong, badminton, and her favorite class – bowling! She coached students K-12 as well as college students at Arizona State University. A student she coached even went on to win the National Championship in Asia – a true testament to how great of a teacher Arlene is!
Prior to teaching students, she was a competitive badminton player and played all over the United States, winning the Arizona singles, doubles, and mixed doubles tournaments. Talk about an accomplished career!
Arlene’s favorite class at Ansel Park is aqua aerobics and she can always be counted on to show up with a positive attitude, being willing to try new things and help by suggesting ideas for fun new water exercises!
