We are so thankful for the men and women who have served our country and defended our freedom!
In the leadup to Veterans Day, we asked veterans across Sagora communities to share their experiences with us, including the lessons they learned and their favorite memories from their time in the US Armed Forces. We’re so thankful for those who shared their experiences with us and we’re thrilled to share their stories:
Ron R. served in the Navy from 1966-1972, working as a Sonar Technician. He says he used his enlistment bonus to buy a Corvette. At one point, his ship chased a Russian nuclear submarine for three days. When the chase was over, the Russians saluted his ship because “they could not lose us.”
Bob W. was a Navy Seabee, serving from 1967-1971. “It made me think differently than the rest of my family,” he says. “I know what is important.” Part of his service was spent on Crete, where he enjoyed perfect weather, great people and delicious food.
Megan R., a Sagora team member, served in the Air Force Reserves from 2002-2010 as a Biomedical Equipment Technician. This would lead her into a career in Senior Living. “It gave me a good base of skills I needed in life,” she says.
