Celebrating our Veterans- Elison Independent & Assisted Living of Maplewood

We are so thankful for the men and women who have served our country and defended our freedom!

In the leadup to Veterans Day, we asked veterans across Sagora communities to share their experiences with us, including the lessons they learned and their favorite memories from their time in the US Armed Forces. We’re so thankful for those who shared their experiences with us and we’re thrilled to share their stories:

Carl M. served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy from 1954-1972. He made a career of his service and enjoyed traveling all over the world.

James F. served in the Navy from 1951-1955, achieving the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer. During his service, he met his wife and together, they had a son. After making lots of lifelong friends, James utilized the GI Bill to get a college degree.

Frederick S. served in the Army Chemical Corps from 1954-1956, where he was the chief storage officer at a chemical depot in France. It was an eye-opening experience for him, as he began to appreciate other cultures and learned how to work as a team. “I think I aged 10 years in two,” he said.

Charles P. served in the Army and the Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. His service started during World War II. He said his time in the service taught him how to become more aware of his surroundings. His favorite memories, he says, are “the day I enlisted and the day I retired.”

Do you have questions? We have answers.

At Sagora Senior Living our goal is to be accessible to our residents and their families, our future associates, and our customers. To that end, we look forward to hearing from you.
