Honoring Our Veterans

At Sagora Senior Living, we constantly find special ways to celebrate and honor our residents. With Veterans Day almost here, we are at no shortage for reasons to honor our residents! We are truly grateful for the sacrifices from the men and women who have served our nation, especially those who we are blessed to call our residents.

November 11 holds a special place in the hearts of Americans as we honor those who have served in the U.S. military. Veterans Day is a day to pay our respects to those who have fought so bravely to protect our country. There are millions of veterans who are now seniors and have a lot of wisdom and experience to share with younger generations. Take the time to show your appreciation for aging parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, and community members who have served in the Armed Forces.

One way we honor our veterans is through our dedication to them each and every day. At Sagora Senior Living we operate by our core values – Commitment, Empowerment, Communication and Excellence. Because of our work with seniors, it should not be a surprise that our core values are very similar to those of the US Department of Veterans Affairs – Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence — better known as “I CARE.” Through our care and dedication to seniors, our core values focus our minds on our mission of caring and thereby guide our actions towards our resident-first service.

Another way we honor our veterans is through celebrations and ceremonies, especially on Veterans Day. When honoring individuals for their service, it’s important to provide an environment that is best suited for them. As our veterans age, they may not be as meticulous or regimented as they once were, but it’s important to note that society often times forgets that our elder veterans who live among us, deserve the respect and gratitude that they did when they once served. They may suffer from ailments that they gained from wartime, and they also may be traumatized by PTSD and depression from their experiences. Regardless of how you go about it, it’s important to take the time to honor those who have served our nation.

This Veterans Day, our communities will be engaging in numerous celebrations and ceremonies to honor our senior veterans. From parades to flag ceremonies to luncheons and many other engagements, Sagora Senior Living will take pause and be sure to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed. Veterans Day provides an opportunity to honor and express gratitude towards seniors who have served and by planning engaging activities we can create meaningful connections and show appreciation for their sacrifices.
