I am Sagora- Valerie T.

At Sagora Senior Living, our team is made up of associates from all walks of life, each coming together to further one common goal. We’re dedicated to our residents, and our different backgrounds prove to be a strength. Together, we have the knowledge and the life experience to conquer each task, doing so with compassion, grace and a friendly smile.

It’s our goal to maximize each associate’s life experience, using it to better the lives of our residents each day across our 61 communities in 12 different states. That’s why we value team members like Valerie T., an IT Support Analyst in the Home Office.

Prior to joining Sagora in August, Valerie served in the United States Marine Corps. Her service spanned eight years and took her to several different countries including Japan and South Korea. In the Marines, she held a variety of different positions, specializing in Information Technology and communications.

“I worked on the service desk and in the information management office,” she said.

The military gave Valerie structure and valuable experience in the bustling field of Information Technology. She is grateful for the time she spent in the Marines, and the lessons she learned along the way.

“I loved my time in the Marine Corps,” Valerie said. “It set the foundation of my career, provided stability in my life and gave me lifelong friendships.”

Once discharged, she used her experience to embark on a career in IT, but she wanted it to be the right fit. Her time in the military taught her how to collaborate with her fellow Marines and showed her the value of a team-oriented environment. That environment was something that she was looking for in the civilian world.

She found it at Sagora.

“We have a really good team,” she said. “We definitely have each other’s backs here in IT.”

As part of Sagora’s IT team, Valerie works closely with associates from each community and the home office. She’s a problem solver, helping to ensure that each team member and each community has what they need in order to succeed and further Sagora’s Resident First philosophy.

And each day, she finds herself calling upon the lessons she learned in the Marines.

“[I think back to] skills that I learned there that help me in my everyday life,” she said. “Especially adaptability and being flexible.”
