Meet the Couples of Sagora Senior Living!
Love is in the air at our Sagora Senior Living communities! This Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d share the stories of a few of our married couples. Check them out below!
Ernest and Janet, Lyndale Abilene Memory Care, Abilene, Texas
Meeting in small town Pyron High School at the tender age of 16, both Janet and Ernest were immediately smitten with each other. Janet will tell you that their life isn’t any different than others, but when someone can tell you about a 73 year marriage, you know it’s one for the books! After high school, Ernest joined the Air Force and served our country in WWII. Knowing that he was going off to war, he would not marry his love because he did not want to make her a widow at a young age. Knowing that she didn’t want to marry anyone else, Janet waited on the home front, working in a government office to pass the time, eagerly waiting for her soldier to return!
After Ernest returned safely home, both got back on their feet and married at the age of 23. Janet will tell you they lived a modest life and just enjoyed “…being with each other.” Though they never had children of their own, their nieces, nephews and extended family have always been “theirs!”.
Tom and Eleanor, Rio Terra Senior Living, New Braunfels, Texas
Bob and Bettie, The Brennity at Fairhope, Fairhope, Alabama
This sweet couple recently enjoyed some chocolate covered strawberries made at their community’s clubhouse. They’ve lived at The Brennity at Fairhope’s independent living cottages for over a year and enjoy all of the diverse activities offered. They met at WestPoint Academy and have been married for 68 years!
John and Kay, The Brennity at Tradition, Port St. Lucie, Florida
John and Kay have been married for 61 years and reside at The Brennity at Tradition Independent Living. John hangs with the guys and gets in his golf games on a regular basis, while Kay is one of the community’s “mermaids” and can be found in the pool almost every morning. They are big Iowa Hawkeye fans and never miss a game! #FightForIowa
Victor and Lillia, Ansel Park Senior Living, Rocklin, California
Victor and Lillia recently relocated to California from Arizona to be closer to family. They’ve been married for 68 years and it’s obvious that they’re still very much in love, devoted and respectful of one another.
As stated by Zane Grey, “love grows more tremendously full, swift, poignant as the years multiply.” These couples couldn’t be a better testament to that, and we consider ourselves to be very privileged to know them. Wishing you all a very happy Valentine’s Day!
