Meet Albertha “Bert” Johnson, our Assisted Living Lifestyle Director at The Westmore located in Westworth Village, Texas. Her job is to plan vibrant, active events for our residents, build and maintain relationships with them and to ensure that our residents’ mental wellness needs are met.
Bert has been an associate at Sagora Senior Living since August 2014 and truly goes above and beyond in her position. She is known as the life of The Westmore especially through 2020 as COVID-19 has presented several challenges including canceled events and outings. Bert saw COVID-19 as an opportunity to get creative in finding new ways to ensure that our residents are still happy, having fun and living the vibrant lifestyle that The Westmore is known for.
She is also known for being a comforting rock of support for our residents. Whenever a resident is faced with an emotionally rainy day, Bert is always there to give them some extra time and attention and to let them know that she’s there so they may weather the storm together.
There have been many times where Bert will call the community’s Executive Director outside of traditional business hours to discuss a resident that’s on her heart and how our teams may help them. She is always thinking of others and how to brighten their day – not only for our residents, but for our associates as well.
She familiarizes herself with every single resident and gets to know those “little details” about every person so she is able to help our new residents feel welcome and to meet new friends at the community who have similar interests.
When asked what she loves most about her job, Bert said, “I love waking up every day feeling like I’m about to be with my other family who loves me. Most of all, I like feeling that I can comfort not only our residents, but their families as well. I know I want to continue making them smile, have fun and I want to continue to be a major part of their lives.”
Bert is our Star Associate of the Quarter. Our Star Associate of the Quarter program recognizes an associate who exudes our Resident First Philosophy day in and day out. This individual consistently demonstrates our core values of effective communication, commitment, empowerment and strives for excellence within their department.
Bert was nominated by her Executive Director, Jennifer Pope for this honor and we can clearly see why. We are blessed by her smiling face and cheerful heart and are so thankful to have her as part of the Sagora Senior Living family.
